The heart of the company is John Dorman, a skilled luthier, who has been committed to building instruments of high quality for the past 16 years. In his humidity-controlled workshop, special attention is given to the drying and maturing of select tone woods, keeping in mind the destination of each instrument.

John has experience in building a large range of predominantly Celtic instruments: Celtic harps, Uilleann pipes, citterns, Irish bouzouki, dulcimers and guitars. The demand for harps has led to his primary focus, however he still accepts a limited number of orders for pipes and fretted instruments; this occasional variety offers a pleasant change of pace.

He believes that in addition to a carefully researched design, the secret to achieving high quality is to establish and follow set procedures, while observing unwavering attention to detail. Using a measure of scientific principles, knowledge, and experimentation, coupled with a generous portion of gut instinct, a discriminating ear, and practical experience, John has honed his craft to perfect his instruments.
